Branch Out Productions studio performance series is excited to announce auditions for their upcoming production of the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.
An eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming “ding” of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves! At least the losers get a juice box.
A riotous ride, complete with audience participation, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a delightful den of comedic genius.
Auditions are open to those aged 16+ , this show features some comedic adult themes.
Auditionees should be familiar with the show and are asked to prepare a verse and chorus of a comedic musical theatre song. And be prepared for some creative improvised story telling.
Auditions will run the evenings of January 10th and January 11th at the BOP studio (800 Saint Mary’s Street) and are by appointment. To book an appointment email firstname.lastname@example.org
NOTE: this is an intense show, there is no ensemble and the cast must be very capable of improv, challenging singing and spelling big words!
Rehearsals will run Monday and Wednesday evenings from mid February to mid May.
