The Beaverbrook Art Gallery offers FREE admission and programs to visitors of all ages on the last Sunday of each month from 12 pm to 5 pm!

12:00 – 5:00 pm (RBC Learning Centre) Collage Party with Peter Gorham
Experience the magic and thrill of creating complex collages on paper with inspiration from great masters of collage, from Picasso and Matisse to Eric Carle! Peter Gorham is a teacher and educator who enjoys bringing out the artist in everyone, at any age. His art workshops have engaged teachers, students and artists in many unforgettable experiences with art and creativity.
1:00 pm – 4:30 pm (Education Room) Bold and Bright paintings on cardboard with Ashlee Craig
Be inspired by Alexandrya Eaton’s bright colors and bold designs and create your own colourful paintings in acrylic and tempera on cardboard, paper, and canvas, in various sizes and shapes! Ashlee Craig is a self-taught painter and art educator residing in Fredericton, N.B. Inspired by her background in psychology as well as travelling/teaching abroad in Costa Rica, Indonesia and Thailand, Craig combines a love for vivid colour with a passion for the therapeutic power that art can have within the community. Ashlee teaches and volunteers for art education projects through local schools and Senior Care Facilities, runs her own Sip and Paint company and hosts independent shows of her work locally.

1:00 pm (Jean E. Irving River Gallery) Port City 5
Port City 5 represents a new brand of chamber music: dynamic young professionals with a social conscience and diverse musical interests. They believe great music of the ages can exist together in a concert hall and have hewn out a place in the artistic life of New Brunswick by pairing up great classical works with the music of contemporary icons.
Formed in January, 2016, Port City 5 is made up of Teaching Artists of Sistema New Brunswick’s Saint John Centre. Committed to education and community outreach, the group maintains an active schedule teaching daily at the Sistema Centre, as well as performing throughout Saint John. They have been presented by the Saint John Theatre Company, the Rothesay Netherwood school, the Sanctuary Theatre, and have had sold out performances at the BMO Theatre and the Five and Dime. This afternoon’s performance marks the group’s first appearance in Fredericton, NB.
2:00 pm (Elizabeth E. Currie Gallery on the Green) The Beaverbrook Caper, original play
A hardened veteran of fine art protection keeps vigil on priceless paintings, now with the help of a new young recruit. But can they outsmart a crafty criminal, whose trickery may just make them criminals themselves?
Written by Gordon Mihan and directed by Robin Whittaker. This production recently premiered during the NotaBle Acts Theatre Festival.
Gordon Mihan is a screenwriter, director, and playwright. He has produced and directed seven festival-screened short films across Canada and has written and staged several plays in New Brunswick. A director, playwright, and dramaturg, Robin C. Whittaker is associate professor at St. Thomas University where he is the drama advisor for the English Department and artistic producer for Theatre St. Thomas (TST). As a playwright and director his work has been seen across Canada. In Fredericton he has also worked with NB Acts, and Solo Chicken Productions. He has published numerous articles on Canadian theatre and is founding editor of the Fredericton theatre reviewing website STU Reviews.
3:00 pm (The Joseph and Fanny Oppenheimer Gallery) Artist Talk: Noémie DesRoches, Studio Watch artist
Originally from Tracadie, New Brunswick, Noémie DesRoches earned a bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts from Université de Moncton in 2013, where she studied painting and printmaking. She is active in the region’s visual arts scene, as she teaches visual arts classes at the Centre des Arts et de la Culture de Dieppe, and sits on the board of Galerie Sans Nom.
