Back by popular demand, the Fredericton Playhouse is once again celebrating Halloween with an interactive screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show on Saturday, October 31.
This classic 1975 film is full of over-the-top comedy, drama and a whole lot of singing and dancing. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a musical like no other, starring Tim Curry as Dr. Frank N Furter, the kinky yet endearing “transsexual from Transylvania,” Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick as his hapless guests Janet and Brad, Meat Loaf as the ill-fated motorcyclist Eddie and author Richard O’Brien as the hunchbacked butler Riff Raff.
Considered a cult hit, The Rocky Horror Picture Show has garnered countless fans who embrace the fun and crazy spirit of the film with props and audience participation. While the Playhouse asks patrons to leave their water pistols, prunes and hot dogs at home, audience members are encouraged to participate by bringing newspapers, flashlights, toilet paper and more. A full prop list is available here.
Join us at 10:30 p.m. for a special pre-show party hosted by Fredericton actor and director Shawn Henry in character, featuring drink specials, a trivia contest and Time Warp lessons. Channel your favourite character for the chance to win our Rocky Horror costume contest, or leave the costume at home – everyone is welcome at this event! It all leads up to the screening of the one and only Rocky Horror Picture Show at midnight.
