Elm City Echoes Looking for New Members

Come experience the joy of singing a cappella harmony – and let your spirit soar! The Elm City Echoes, Fredericton’s barbershop chorus for women, is looking for women who love to sing, perform, and have fun! They are holding a membership night on Monday, January 30, at 7pm at the Cathedral Memorial Hall, located at 168 Church Street.

“Singing is not only fun, it’s also aerobic . . . and the deep breathing helps improve your overall health and well-being,” says Christine Freeman, chorus director. “I would encourage women who love to sing to come check us out. You don’t have to have a terrific voice or even know how to read music. We’ll help you!”

“Women of all ages, from the young to the young at heart, are welcome,” adds Joanne Jardine, membership chair for the chorus. “If you are looking for a new hobby, then we have a spot for you. Come; bring your voices and enthusiasm. We promise you fun, friendship, and a rewarding learning experience.”

Visitors to the membership night will discover the fun of singing in four-part harmony, learn to sing a short song in barbershop style and enjoy a performance by the chorus. The Elm City Echoes have shared their time and love of singing with the community for almost 40 years taking part in fund-raising events and performing in concerts and festivals. The chorus is also a familiar sight in local stores and malls during the Christmas season as members entertain shoppers.
