The Fredericton Playhouse is thrilled to once again present an exciting Spotlight Series lineup in 2015-2016, consisting of 26 world-class performances in music, dance and theatre, covering a wide range of different genres. In addition to these shows, the Playhouse also offers the Experience More! program, a series of innovative workshops and activities designed to enrich your experience. This year, they are delighted to offer 18 Experience More! events over the course of the season.

Movie buffs will be captivated by a series of special film screenings, including Twenty Feet of Stardom, starring singer and upcoming Playhouse performer Darlene Love; and Seeds of Change, airing shortly before the theatrical presentation SEEDS.

Dancers of various skill levels are invited to participate in a number of workshops. Dancers with O Vertigo will lead a Contemporary Dance Workshop; Bboyizm members will instruct both a Hip Hop Dance and a B-boy/B-girl Workshop; and dancers from Canada’s Ballet Jorgen will offer a Ballet Repertory Class. They’re also offering a chance to Learn to Foxtrot, Jive and Waltz with Headpond Dance Studio, offered in association with Woody Holler and his Orchestra.

For those looking to delve deeper into our Spotlight Series shows, be sure to attend a Lecture on Debussy vs. Ravel with Dr. Willis Noble, presented in conjunction with The Judgment of Paris. Audience members are invited to attend a Facilitated Discussion with Tim Yerxa, following Bboyizm’s performance.

There will be a couple of opportunities to get up close and personal with the performers themselves. Join us for A Conversation with the Cast, following the performance of SEEDS, and stick around after 6 Guitars for A Conversation with Chase Padgett.

Foodies will delight in an Irish Whiskey Tasting with Frank Scott, scheduled right before Lúnasa’s performance, as well as a Traditional Ukrainian Dining Experience, taking place just prior to DakhaBrakha’s show.

We’re also offering an opportunity for songwriters to hone their skills by working with singer-songwriter Dave Gunning in a special Songwriting Workshop.

There are a number of activities planned especially for children and their families, including a Pyjama and Stuffie Party: Reading of The Velveteen Rabbit, offered in association with Canada’s Ballet Jörgen’s performance of The Velveteen Rabbit. Kids and teens ages 8-11 and 12-16 are invited to participate in two Science Fiction Shadow Puppetry Workshops, offered as part of the Sci-Fi Double Feature performance.

Many Experience More! activities are offered free of charge, while others have a nominal registration fee. Please note that some programs may require pre-registration, and venues vary.
