The Male Under-14 squad will be led by head coach Eric Bissonnette. Bissonnette joined the St. Stephen County Aces as head coach and general manager in December, 2014. He still holds the GM title while also serving as head coach of the Fredericton Caps in the New Brunswick/ PEI Midget AAA league.
Joining Bissonnette on Male Under-14 staff is Woodstock Slammers trainer Mike Burrell. Burrell is no stranger to the High Performance program, spending seven years as trainer and equipment manager for various teams including the Under-14, Under-15 and Under-16 programs. He was also named trainer for Team New Brunswick for the2015 Canada Winter Games in Prince George, BC. Additionally, Jessica Sears will serve and the Under-14 team’s athletic therapist. Sears previously served as therapist for the Dieppe Commandos for two seasons.
County Aces head coach Josh Hepditch has been named head coach of the Male Under-15 team. Hepditch is currently in his first season behind the Aces’ bench and second campaign in the MHL overall. He was also named to the coaching staff for Team MHL at the 2015 Eastern Canada Cup in Cornwall, Ontario last November.
MHL President Dave Ritcey was happy to learn of the appointments.
“This gives some of our league’s personnel the opportunity to work with talented athletes and a strong organization in Hockey New Brunswick and the High Performance program,” Ritcey said. “The recognition is both beneficial and hard earned.”
The Male Under-14, Male Under-15, Female Under-16, and Female Under-18 teams will compete against the provincial teams from Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland & Labrador at the Atlantic Challenge Cup, held in Moncton, NB from October 7-10, 2016.
