Eat New Brunswick is a new initiative to celebrate locally sourced dishes in the Fredericton region. Fourteen participating restaurants are offering dishes between October 2 – 26 made with ingredients supplied by local producers. Support local farmers and enjoy unique dishes at some of your favourite restaurants.
Eat New Brunswick is part of an initiative to promote local farmers and to help get people thinking about where their food comes from.
Promoting locally sourced food isn’t a new idea in Fredericton. There are several methods local farmers use to sell their produce in the city including our local markets and businesses such as Real Food Connections, which connects with 140 producers to supply New Brunswickers with local groceries. Real Food Connections is assisting the Eat New Brunswick initiative by offering wholesale prices to participating restaurants, according to a Real Food Connections employee in an interview. Supporting Eat New Brunswick is part of their larger goal of supplying the province with local food year round.
If Eat New Brunswick is successful in Fredericton, the initiative plans to expand to other communities around the province next year.
